MONFORTINHO. A TOURIST EXPERIENCE

I travelled to Monfortinho, some days ago, by the hand of Internet, and of my good star Mayte and her wise counsels. I wanted to find a Portuguese spa. It's important to say that what is said in the web page of Termas of Monfortinho, www. monfortur. pt, it is not much, but it is all certain, perhaps not sufficiently expressive of the reality of the thermal complex that I have had the fortune to stay, but absolutely certain.
I went to Monfortinho from Madrid entering Portugal by Alcántara, after crossing its fantastic Roman bridge, then to Coria to admire the city and its cathedral. In Spain there are many roads that drive you to Monfortinho, a small town, or village, with Pensions, Residences and Restaurants, mainly. The complex that integrate the Termas, property of the same company, is composed by the Spa itself, two Hotels (of three stars and four stars), the Astoria and the Fonte Santa, and a precious Shooting and Fishing Club, next to a beautiful lake and a small and nice restaurant.
The Hotel Astoria it's comfortable and has, installed in their low plant and basement, an Health Centre where people, simply in search of relaxation, may spend some good hours.
The spa is another thing, beginning for the properties of its waters, that although they assured us, in the Hotel, that is the same, does not seem normal that they use the same spring that gave fame to its curative properties. The spa installed in a very modern building, that we visited attended by an employee, as attentive as qualified, is an example of perfect organization integrally computerized – you only can enter with an electronic card.
The region that seems of an economy of subsistence, very modest, with modest restaurants, with accessible prices, emphasizes in general by the beauty of its landscape, by the weight of its History written in the stone of its medieval towns, but above all, by the amiability of its peoples that is appreciated since the first moment.
